The City Showed Up: Inside the Grand Opening of Garci’s Carter’s Cheesesteaks in Philly”

Last night the energy in Philly’s Chinatown hit a new high. We pulled up to the grand opening of Carter’s Cheesesteaks — the new venture from Ape Gang Garci (aka “Garci”) — right next door to his nightclub, and what a moment. Here’s the full story.

Arrival & Red-Carpet Vibes

Garci rolled through in a sleek black SUV, fashionably late but the crowd didn’t mind — because this was his moment. He stepped out, dapped up his family, shook hands almost all around, recognized his team, gave hugs and nods. Then he disappeared for a bit to switch up into his ceremony look — when he came back out, he was glistening in two heavy husky chains, looking like a star ready for his spotlight.

The Ceremony

Once inside, the energy built. Garci grabbed the mic and opened with heartfelt props:

  1. He thanked his crew behind the scenes (the kitchen staff, front-of-house, his family).
  2. He acknowledged the fans and the community who showed up in full force.
  3. He spoke about his vision — bringing real, authentic Philly cheesesteaks into Chinatown, creating a space that blends culture, food and celebration.
  4. Then he cut the ribbon — boom, Carter’s was officially open.

The Line & The Food

The line snaked down the block, full of excited fans and food lovers alike. Inside, it moved steady, the smell of sizzling steaks, melted cheese, onions and griddle heat filling the air. Every bite hit — the rolls, the beef, the cheese — made it clear that this wasn’t just hype, it was real. According to Carter’s social feed, “Real beef. Real cheese. Real Philly.” is the motto.

People were coming out with boxes of sandwiches, photos in front of the banner, smiles all around.

VIP & Star Power

From what I saw: A-list names were in the building — Meek Mill, Gillie Da King, Wallo, O Melly, Black Deniro… the list goes on. Their posts on social backed it up. The fact that Garci brought this kind of energy to the food space shows he’s serious about building a brand, not just a spot.

Why This Matters

  1. For Chinatown: The new spot adds a fresh layer of culture and nightlife to the neighborhood.
  2. For the cheesesteak game: Carter’s adds newcomer energy with big ambitions.
  3. For Garci: This is a brand expansion move — he’s not just in music or nightlife anymore; he’s owning the kitchen too.
  4. For you (and for us): It’s more than a sandwich. It’s community, it’s hustle, it’s a moment.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in Philly, make your way to 1016 Race St (Carter’s location) and pull up for the launch of something new. Bring your appetite, your camera, your friends — because it’s going to be more than food, it’s culture.

And to Garci: Congratulations on the new store, the energy, the vision. The chains, the mic moment, the crowd — it all added up. Here’s to many nights of cheesesteaks, star power and making moves.
